I am so done!!!

Oh yeah!!! I am done with exams!!! It was torture torture torture...

My management science paper is a goner, I cant do a 20 marks question for marketing (but neither did everyone...), I have no time to do my business legal law paper. That is the most frustrating of all...and I know I know how to do. The only not so bad paper is the sociology paper, my elective paper...which was easier than expected. I think that everyone who had been lectures know that the professor did not really like to make things easier for us. He made 1 questions out of a whole lot of question compulsory (so that students won't pick topics to study) and did not even let us know how many questions to choose from (so that students wont go around guessing how many questions for one topic). But hey, it was not too bad. But that's what everyone thinks too...so when it comes to allocation of grades and the bell-curve thing...I dont exactly have that advantage. But I dont think I will fail that module...maybe I can get a decent B. Lucky I didnt S/U it...(for the sake of those not in NUS, S/U is a choice for students for elective modules not to count in the cummulative average point or CAP.)

I have been wondering for some time already. I suddenly have this fear that I chose the wrong faculty. Hmm, I know some of you people know about this, but I thought of going to Arts fac and major in soci. I always like that subject. But thinking about job aspects, my limitations, and the fact that if I choose the arts fac I would most likely to be memorising the ENTIRE time, I backed out. I am not a bad memoriser, and I dont exactly hate it. But I cant do it all the time, I will scream. Yes yes, I shouldnt be memorising at all and should try to understand but let's face it, there is a need for SOME memorising to start with. Theories, concepts, definitions....these are stuff that you cant exactly cook up at the last minute and gloss it over. I imagined myself doing memorising for at least 4 modules per sem and I can't do it. But now after thinking back, I really like soci. I may even take a level2 soci module. Does it mean that I should be in arts fac? But realistically, I am at the best position possible...I mean I am not too bad yet not too good in either science or arts. Choosing business is like choosing something in between the two.

I shall not think about it. I shall remain that soci is just my interest and business is my calling.

I am so tired from all the studying and it's so nice to have a break. I can finally watch my soccer!!! And damn, Chelsea beat Man U and Rooney is injured.

Now looking for jobs...I need to start thinking about going to Beijing and Vancover for the 2008 and 2010 olympics. Nicole and I are seriously contemplating of going to Beijing. If we both have the money, and if my auntie still lives there (can bunk in her place). It's Thorpe's last Games!! I have to try to be there. So yeah, need to work. It's sickening, because I know I will miss the bulk of the World Cup action but oh well, there is always my tape recorder.

Talking abt that, my mum is finally going to subscribe cable tv. Yes!!! She can't stand the fact that she can't watch the bulk of world cup...I am so lucky that she is into football...

There has been a lot of activity these days because of the GE...and I couldnt study yesterday for my legal paper thanks to them. I am not going into GE but I think my neighbourhood would be an interesting place this week. I dont have to vote, but my friends have to. And I realised TODAY that they actually are qualified to receive Progress Package!!! Arghz!!! They get like $600 to $800...and poor me get kosong....so broke man. The next time I must wrestle a free meal from my friends....

Anyway, I remember reading this from my soci textbook and I want to put it here. I am 'requoting' from it because I can't remember the exact wording...this was in the topic gender.

A woman who is married but without children is considered as selfish.
A woman who is married and working to raise a family is considered to have neglected her family.
A woman who is married and a stay-home mum is considered unemployed at best.
A woman who is divorced with children is considered as the culprit responsible for the breakdown of the family.
A woman who is not married is a spinster.
(Adapted from Sociology A Global Perspective by Joan Ferrante)

I have a few more to add to it.

A couple who is childless is considered as the woman's fault.
A man in his early forties is considered as
1.Charming
2.Rich
3.Sexyl.
4.Bachelor

A woman in her late thirties is considered as
1.Old
2.Career-minded (negative connation intended)
3.Sagging
4. Spinster

What does the society wants from women?? WE ARE STRUCK!!! And mind you, society includes women. I feel that we women have to stop putting ourselves down, putting other women down. We should stand up together as women so that one day in the far future we might possibly get the total equality that we desire. Somehow, I feel that the main problem is women's bitching, and we love to bitch about other women. And we didnt realise that in the midst of us doing that, we cut ourselves opportunities to stand up tall and proud in societies and be equal. Half of the population in the world should be women. We have the power to change.

These are just statements of opinons.

Anyway, I just saw Sylvi's blog entry about the dinner and dance thing. Looks fun...hmm...I wonder if there was such an event last year would I be invited and if I am, what will I go as. Sylvi, I dont believe you dont have an idol. Everyone has one. But hey you look great.

Ok, better get going. I only have 3 hrs of sleep ytday.

And friends, if anyone have any jobs lobangs, call me ok? Thanks!!!

Plushenko's picture

Source: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/060416/483/pxc10304162033
I am back to the skating topic. LOL.

Anyway I thought this picture is pretty cute... He looked kinda...plumper here compared to those times when he was competing in Torino. And it seems like he has a pot belly in the making...Perhaps it's the outfit. He wore black the whole time when he was competing and this outfit is in orange, which I guess will make a person looks fatter than before? Then perhaps I should swear off in wearing orange if that is the case...

And this time he looked more relax and having a lot more fun.

The people in North America are so lucky!!! The Champions On Ice tour looks so nice and fun to watch...

Ok I am going back to marketing...I am so tired.

THAT the newpaper article

I am supposed to be studying marketing, but I need a break. So here I am blogging.

Something caught my eye today, and I HAVE to comment about it. And it is not about figure skating (u can let out that breath that u have been holding). I probably wun talk about skating. Maybe just a little...

Ok. First thing first.

DISCLAIMER: I have no intentions of critising or dissing anyone here. If I sound like I did, it would be because of my command of English being poor, bad, just not good enough. And I am too blunt with my words. And I apologise. Also, I think I will sound incoherent in this post. I am sorry about that too but I had just killed 30+ millions of my brain cells for my Management Science exam paper this morning.

A few months before, I heard my friend Yingqi commenting that my friend Nicole's new hairstyle looks like Yang Cheng Ling (Rainie Yang). Immediately, I felt like I know who she is, even though I never heard of that name before and never even seen her before. I know she will have long flowy hair, with big black bambi-like eyes, sweet smile. She would perhaps be a petite girl, wearing a dress, with a flower or a ribbon in her hair and pretty colourfully painted nails. I never even bother to ask how she looks like, because I know that one day I will see her in pictures. If yingqi and nicole and others know about her, the whole of singapore would probably know her too. And Taiwan would probably be in a craze about her.

Guess what? About 1 month ago, while I was trying to read soccer news in the chinese lianhe wanbao(evening newspaper), I came across a picture of a girl and bingo! It is Rainie Yang. Just like the image I have in mind. No surprise, no brainer.

Source:http://img45.photobucket.com/albums/v139/f4_my_fantasy4evr/rainie/200332221075318.jpg

And today, in The Newpaper today, there is this article about Taiwan female stars. The article said EXACTLY what I have in mind. Cutsy female stars like Cyndi Wang and Rainie Yang. Truckloads of them. One after another. Barely 1 year in between each albums. Haven't people have enough of these kind of stars? How come people like them so much? I really don't understand. Their songs aren't exactly that great to me. There is no great melodies or beat or vocals in there. Granted, I never heard of Yang's songs but I think I know how they sound like. That article confirmed my predictions. I guess they are 'catered' for those teenage boys and girls to admire, to adore.

Then comes the next question. How come my friends, who are in their 20s, seems to like them? Ok, I dont really know whether they really like these stars. But they are always talking about them, so I guess they must like them to some extent. Is that what the whole of singapore are into now? Cute? If that is what Taiwan's media stars are like, I will get out of there and never watch those shows that feature them again. Which is like practically every Taiwanese show. Is that what we singapore teenagers idolise? Goodness. It seems so brainless to me.

I am so glad that I am into the angmoh american hollywood. I guess when people thought of Hollywood, they thought the whole industry is selling 'sex'. And to choose between hollywood and taiwan's media circle, one would choose taiwan's 'cutsy' given our Asian society. Ok I admit, Hollywood does have cutsy stars (think Hilary Duff) but there are not so many of them turning into super mega-stars like their counterparts in taiwan. Why are the cutsy stars popular? Why do the people here do not have such liking for Hilary Duff and yet go mad over Rainie Yang? Why??

And if she is pretty, I would say Sasha Cohen is even prettier.

Source:http://www.sashacohen.com/studioshots.shtml

Isn't it so?

If you really want to force me into saying which chinese stars I really admire, I would probably say Sammi Cheng, Emil Chau, Andy Lau, Faye Wong....those older stars. But....Why do the people here do not recognise Bon Jovi? Matchbox twenty? Mariah Carey? Mary J Blige? Gwen Stefani? These are really great singers with great music!! Some of the music of the cutsy stars are so.....omg that it becomes a joke. And that is the reason why I am not keen in going to K-box. All the cutsy songs....cringe cringe. I prefer to spend my time at the movie theatre for movies.

It probably boils down to culture. People cannot accept the liberal way of how hollywood thinks about sex and females. And I am probably looking at things in a very biased manner.

I wish that my friends would just go and listen to english music for a while instead of just telling me that they dont understand what it means. To me, it is so much better than the junk that is throwing in our faces. And I hope they realise that it's not all that liberal. But then again, they would probably wish that I would listen to Chinese music.

As I said before, these are just all my opinons. It's not about dissing. No insults intended, nothing intended. And I sound incoherent. Would probably need to clarify in my next post.

And go read the article in The Newpaper. Can borrow from me if you need it.

Anyway, just to say, I am surprised how many people come to my blog. The last time I saw it, there were 1990 visitors. 10 days later, there are 2154. So I guess there are not many people studying that hard after all. Thanks for the support!!!

I am not coming on to here for a looong time

Yesh I am not coming here for a long time...I really need to mug hard hard hard hard.

I think I have a great influence on my friends...I already successfully 'convert' Siewlian to appreciate figure skating and to a certain extent liking plushie and Adeline to like plushie very much. Considering how much 'exposure' we are getting here on figure skating, this is not considered too bad right? Now I think I have converted yingqi to like Sasha Cohen...oh well. It's understandable. Sasha's elegance, flexibility, beauty and air on ice is amazing. So, for the sake of my friend, I am posting this Sasha's skating video which I think it's her best yet. It's her US Nationals free skate, similar to her Olympics's but to me this is even better. And she was almost clean, never fall once. She won her first gold here so this should be good.

And this is an interview of her. I think yingqi would love it if she got time to watch this.
And I am posting 2 plushie's pictures which got me to....sit up and notice. I bet u will do.

Hmm...I have no idea what he is doing but I for sure prefer him to keep his clothes on...LOL.

I think that is it for now. But I realised that blogger can only allow one to keep track of 100th post and 300th post. So I am keeping track on my own.

No. 102 th post.

Cheerios people. For those with exams, mug hard!!!xoxo.

Gorgeous Old Men

I always think that there are male celebrities that are more gorgeous and more charismatic that some of the younger celebs out there. Yes yes, I do take note of older men too. Here are a few:

Richard Gere

Source: http://www.milams.com/discus/messages/306/1670.jpg/

George Clooney

Source: http://www.dolshouse.com/queensmen/image/clooney_suit.jpg

Jon Bon Jovi

Source: http://www.specialtygiftsandmore.net/Jon_Bon_Jovi.jpg

All of them are not in their 20s or even 30s...but still..they are like gorgeous. I think I am kinda like big small also eat (大小通吃) but I cant resist gorgeous men..Haha..

My fave is actually George Clooney. I love the way he stares at you with a hint of a smile or just have a brooding look. Hahaha...And the older he gets, the sexier he becomes.

If anyone asked why I didn't mention my plushie, it is because my plushie is 23. Doesn't fit this post at all. But he is cute la.

I better get back to work. I need to catch up with a lot of stuff.

Cheerios.

I wade home today

Ok no time. I need to sleep soon.

I wade home today because the roads and pavements outside and beside my house were flooded...water flowing over the kerb. I have to cross the road with water reaching the bottom of my knees...somewhere there la.

Disgusting. Never experience flood until like this. Gross.

My legs still itches when I thought about it.

And I was wearing my new slippers. How lucky.

I better post a plushie picture to make myself happier.

Yes people I still love him.

I'm back

Yes Peepz..I am back.

Super tired now. Beat. The last 3 days was like 3 weeks to me. Tiring, so many things to do. Not enough sleep. Cramped place for sleep. Plus the beds weren't v comfortable. Eyes were puffy because of lack of sleep and the crying.

Not to mention that the day of burial was real tiring. Mentally, physically. Saw my grandpa's tombstone. I last saw it 10 years ago, at his burial. Now, seeing it together with my grandmother's, it brought on a new feeling.

I probably won't see their tombs ever again. (That trip was just too far and rocky.)

At least now they are together. My grans had been lonely for 10 years.

I felt that I had become more emotional as I grow up. I don't normally cry at tragic movies, tragic shows, funerals. I cried only once at my grandpa's. This time, I cried more than once at my gran's. And I stayed there for only 2+ days compared to 7 days at my grandpa's.

Seems surreal to me. I can't believe I am back home. I can't believe things changed. I can't believe I got so much to do. I can't believe how tired I was. Can't think straight.

Seems like 2 months ago when I was blogging about ice skating.

I really can't think straight. I am hitting the bed.

Blog next time.

Cheerios.
