American Idol and Aaron Kwok's Concert
First, let me warn everyone first that this is going to be a LONG POST because I got a few things to blog about =D
Have not been blogging these days. Sometimes it is just because I am too lazy, but sometimes it is really because I was too tired. Was trying to 'conserve' my energy as I was supposed to be at work last sun but it was canceled.
Anyway, wanted to say that this year at American Idol I am a jinx again! Remember I said that I am always a jinx when it comes to my fave winning the title? Yup, it happened again! Thought that I broke my duck for last year and the year before... Sigh. But I think I won't buy Adam's album when it comes out leh... I like him a lot, but his glam rock.... not so sure. I have never been exactly a rock person. Prefer softer rock like Goos.
I also think the BEP's performance for Boom Boom Pow is awesome! I always don't like Fergie actually. I thought that she can't really perform live, her voice doesn't sound nice though I have to admit that it is good. But I think her stage presence in this performance was very nice. I kinda think that Fergie is the gel for the rest of the guys in the group. But still I love their music always.... think I will go for their concert if they ever come to Sg. Missed their concert for 2 years already. And here is their perfomance!
Come to think of it, all of the finale performances are pretty much my type of music. I like Queen Latifah and Lil Rounds' Cue the Rain, like Jason Mraz,'s like Santana's ... etc. Actually I think it is easily one of my fave finales.
Ok, AARON KWOK!
K, first thing I want to say is that the crowd control for entering the concert is pretty bad... The concert is supposed to start at 8pm but I think at 8.30pm there are still people outside queuing to get inside. And everyone is squeezing to get inside.... From the looks of the concert, I think the tickets are almost sold out because it didn't look like there were any empty seats around.
Then, I think we are damn suay because though it is centre stage and Aaron's performance is designed so that audience for all angles are supposed to be able to get a glimpse of him (his front, not his back), we ended up seeing his backview most of the time because he seems to prefer the people at the west side (we were sitting at the east side). Then there was this girl who stood up in front of us and blocking the rest of us behind and REFUSED to sit down after telling her to do so twice... my point is that my experience wasn't as smooth sailing lah.
But this concert did deliver. I don't think I will ever see such a concert again. The part where the stage turned, it is crazy. Aaron really sang inside it, which benefited the people who were sitting at the belcony. But it didn't benefit us sitting at the bottom because he was in this cubicle-like sort of thing and he sort of got lost in the midst of the stage. And the water splashing part was fun. It was obvious actually that there was a lot of planning involved, because the dance steps associated with the water were done to er... maximise the amount of splash. I guess Aaron is a master of that already.
He also had to speak in Mandarin this time because he wasn't getting much response when he was speaking in canto. Poor him sia! He still can't really speak Mandarin, so got some candid effects. The things he said becomes very funny because he can't express himself that well with mandarin. And he made a mistake! He said, "希望下次有机会可以回到台湾" (something like that). Then everybody went "HUH?" before he added on "以外的新加破" and said that he will be going to Newton Circle (he pronounced this horribly) to eat durians. Other than that he didn't speak much. I think also the concert is running late, so he doesn't have time to speak much.
The concert is damn worthwhile in a way, because Aaron broke my record of "concert that ends the latest". My previous record was Grasshoppers at 11.30pm, but I think he ended about 11.45pm. He sang 我是不是应该安静的走开" the last! Lucky we got catch this encore part because it was late already (almost 11.30pm) and we thought it really ended! At least now I got catch him sing one of my fave songs of his...
Ok, here are a few pictures I have took. Jul has a higher powered camera so I think her pictures are clearer. And worse is that my camera ran out of memory! I think next time I will need to buy a memory card with a bigger memory!
The first segment in the costume that my colleagues laughed and said that it looks like he was wearing a red underwear in front of his chest.... but the dancing is really amazing. Can see the videos later.
There is this monkey bar structure that he danced on during the second segment of the show... and he was on top of the monkey bar in this picture...
Aaron on a motocycle...
The stage finally turned!
Aaron dancing in his 'cubicle'
Aaron perching himself at the side of his 'cubicle'
Purposely took this picture to show that he was damn high up lah! I'm thinking u guys know where he is in the picture right?
Aaron just got out of his cubicle-like thing while the stage was slowing lowering itself down...
Aaron in shining silver costume...
Fireworks... there were a lot of such stuff during the concert...
Aaron playing the piano... he said that he tortured his music director cause the guy had to place Aaron's fingers on each keys! Haha...
The start of the water splashing dance part... again, he is facing the the other side...
His encore part... he already changed into a t-shirt already. He came out saying, "我就知道你们是不会走的..." Haha! He is damn comical lah!
And the videos! Finally uploaded them! (You will only see this videos on 1 June due to the slow uploading, so if you read this post before that, sorry! Youtube got slow uploading!)
Aaron singing 舞林正传 (beginning segment)
Aaron singing 我是不是该安静的走开 (encore segment)
Aaron Kwok with 唱这歌 (water segment)
Ok, this month I am officially broke. Spent a lot on serums ($285 in total from my doctor's clinic) as well as a consultation with a GP that leads me to buying Centrum Multi Vit pills. And this year, including the e-awards thing, I went to 3 concerts already. And half of the year is not gone yet... Plus I still owe money... rah. And I need to buy a couple of things!
1. Crabtree and Evelyn / Loccitane Hand cream
2. Makeup base/ Primer
3. Laneige Eye Cream, activator and makeup base/ sunblock or primer
4. Clarins Lotus Oil
5. Memory card!
Trying to see if I can get some of the stuff cheaper anot. Haha... And I finally got my Laneige strawberry yogurt mask! Not exactly at $10 bucks which is the price Zoe has bought, but definitely cheaper than retail price. Happy happy!
My strawberry yogurt mask collection... one pack of sheet masks that Linda bought for me from her trip to taiwan and the laneige one that I just got!
My laneige mask collection... my laneige stuff is expanding...
And I realised that I don't need to buy masks for the rest of the year le... haha...
Ok, I think this update is long enough. Got a lot more things I want to say but I lazy to blog. So shall end it here.

Been thinking a lot
Anyway, watched Angels and Demons yesterday. I thought it was quite awesome, but Jul and LiLi don't exactly understand the movie. I get it, because the movie is fast moving and did not explain much in details regarding the different churches. I remembered reading the books almost 3 years ago and find this more interesting than Da Vinci Code (and Yiwen understands why the moment I told her that), because I thought that this story is more fast moving. Da Vinci Code is a little too explanatory, especially when it gets to the back when Langdon and Reenu were in Leigh Teabing's house, trying to explain Mary Madgelene. The action only starts after that part, which is already halfway through the book.
This story shows the lifelong debate of whether is Science trying to play god. I remembered in Soci class, during the religion chapter, we said that religion provides answers to the uncertainties in our lives, eg the afterlife, what happens between the limbo of life and death, and the various explanations of events that happened to us (karma, previous life etc). Maybe science is an answer of our curiousity, which is manifested the moment when Eve decided to take a bite out of the apple when she was told not to. And religion is our answer to the unknown. And science and religion will maybe never gel with each other.
Contrary to other Dan Brown's novels (esp the deception code), this book has nothing to do with the actual nitty gritty details of science (except the part of anti matter, which is already light enough for normal readers), but everything to do with history. I love old victorian age kind aof things (which is why I am still reading Pride and Prejudice), old history because it is so intriguing. This books also affirms me that how much I want to go to Europe!
Oh yeah, back to the movie. It is okay, kinda interesting movie. I am starting to think that movie remakes of book adaptions are never going to be as good as reading the book, especially those thick books (think Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoneix). But I have high expectations of the movie, because simply it was directed by Ron Howard, who directed A Beautiful Mind and the recent Frost/ Nixon. Love Evan Mcgregor because somehow I think that he was like super good looking in this movie. Haha... But they missed out one crucial part in the book, such as the part that the late Pope was the father of Evan through IVF, causing the Pope who wants a child badly to love sciene and caused Evan to hate science...
Sigh, I wish I can be reading books all my life without doing anything else... And I am starting to itch to read Twlight series...
Now aiming for Night at the Museum 2, hopefully with zoe and jul, who I watched with for the first movie. And Transformers.... Harry Potter... Haha..
Anyway, thanks to Linda who bought me taiwanese strawberry masks! Lazy to take a picture to show here though... Within a couple of months, my mask collections just went up! Now waiting for my Laneige strawberry yogurt mask... and maybe other laneige items flying in...
K, back to thinking what I should do, along with Man Utd vs Arsenal match. Looking forward to my off day on the Champions League final.
P.S. Both of my faves are in for American Idol Finale! But I want Adam to win! =D
Cheerios. xoxo
P.S. Who's the copycat now? =D

Arh well, I am also trying to load Brothers and Sisters' latest episode (which is extremely slow), so can pass time while doing this.
For Makeup Removers, I am using
1. Loreal Deep Cleansing Oil Makeup remover. It is in a purple bottle.
2. Clarins One Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser
3. Maybelline eye makeup remover. The 2 layer solution.
4. Lancome BI-FACIL eye makeup remover
I interchange makeup removers as and when I want to use it. Loreal for lazy days, Clarins for not so lazy days. Clarins cleaners have this very fine beads to exfoliate which is very comfortable and not drying on skin. Suitable for oily/ combi skin. Can use everyday and even use scrub after using it. I wanted to buy the Pure melting gel that Jie is using, but the BA told me to use this because it is more suitable for combi skin.
Maybelline and Lancome MU remover are so so. Felt that M doesn't really clean expensive mascaras that well but cleans its own mascara rather well.
Interested:
1. Shu's Cleansing Oil. After I finished my Loreal, which is very good in the sense that it can remove waterproof mascara (even those stuborn ones). Good for lazy days. But Huiteng said it is not in production anymore... Got to check.
Tried:
1. Bodyshop Camomile Waterproof MU remover. Not bad, can remove my Chanel mascara (that I bought last year) But cannot remove my MM mascara.
2. Bodyshop Seaweed Facial Cleaner (as MU remover). Totally useless. Cannot remove MU well because I tried rubbing cotton pad over my face after using this and still see lots of MU on the cotton pad. Useless as a facial cleanser too cos toner will remove lots of dirt after cleaning my face with this.
Cleanser
1. Clarins Ultra Foaming Cleanser. Squeeze a bit and lather, and can get a lot of foam which is enough for your whole face. Very clean feeling without feeling dry. Thought foaming cleansers will be very drying on skin but it does not feel my skin feeling dry. The best (and price worthy) cleanser I used.
Tried:
1. Clarins gentle foaming cleanser. Good for senstive skin, but I dun feel that it cleans my face enough. Haha...
Scrubs
1. My doctor's scrub. Which is really strong.
2. Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Refiner. Very good and the bits are really fine.
3. Galenic Exfoliating Gel. Haven't try yet.
Tried
1. Lancome's Clarte Scrub. Can't remember the exact name. It is actually the best scrub I have used. Will revert back once I finished what I have right now.
Interested
1. Clarins Whitening Scrub. Dunno the exact name. I want whitening! Haha... and the BA showed me before and it looks really good...
Toner
1. Clarins Toning Lotion for oily/ combi skin
2. Clarins Water Purify One Step Cleanser for oily/ combi skin (got them in free gifts)
Usually use the toning lotion. Very fresh feeling. Contains no alcohol. But the One step cleanser can act as a mild cleansing lotion (without rinsing with water) but I normally use it as a toner. Keeping one small bottle now to use for travels in future.
Serum
I used my doctors' serum so no point putting it here unless u see the same doctor as me and wanted the same thing. But I use a CE serum (for vitamin C and E) and VA serum (for vitamin a).
Interested to try:
1. Clarins Multi Active Essence
2. Clarins Pore Minimising Serum
Moisturisers
1. Clarins Ultra rebalancing lotion (oily skin). The rebalancing lotion can be used for day and night and it is one of the lightest moisturisers I have ever used. I prefer light moisturisers because for day time I hate to have oily oily face... Smells quite nice, and it's not very expensive.
2. Clarins Multi Active Night Lotion. Night lotion is nice smelling and very light yet still moisturing enough for night time. But this is super expensive lah... I bought this at $107.
3. Clarins Multi Active Day Cream. Day cream is much oiler but still manageable. Go it as a sample size (15 ml) and can last me for close to 2 months.
Tried
1. Clarins Whitening lotion (don't know the exact name). Too oily for me.
2. Clarins hydraquench cream gel. Dun like the smell.
3. One Biotherm sample (can't remember the name though but jul knows). It contains alcohol so never continue with it.
Eye Cream
1. Clarins Eye Contour Balm for fine lines. I am more concerned about lines than dark circles, so I totally did not buy any eye cream for dark circles. This eye cream is okay. I tend to like more water based eye cream so I like this one. And it is good for day time use too.
Masks (some, but not all)
1. Clarins Pure Radiant Mask. One of my best masks. Tighten pores and really give radiance to face.
2. Clarins Intensive Whitening Mask. The other best masks. Really whitens your face and scars.
3. 我的美丽日记 red wine mask. Not bad. Whitens well too. Smells nice.
4. Laneige Water Sleeping Pack. Haven't use yet.. Haha... But it is only 28 bucks for me... =)
5. TFS Rasberry Sleeping Pack and eye mask. I prefer the sleeping mask. Emergency mask for me when I don't have time to put any other masks and really repairs my skins when it really bad. Eye Mask is just ok.
6. Laneige Star White Intensive White Eye Mask. Mask sheets are too dry. Not effective for me.
Interested in trying the Oxymask, especially after the review I saw on Jie's blog... And also, Kose's black mask =)
I am going to re-try sun block once I finish some of the products because right now I simply have too many products on my hands...
Ok, I guess this is all. Realised that except for serum, I have clarins in all the other categories... Haha...
Anyway, I am going to Aaron Kwok's concert with jul and her bro! Haha, and I think I am skipping Grasshoppers. Really dun have spare cash for it... and I think Aaron's has a bit more exciting stuff going on than theirs so I chose Aaron's...
And PCD is coming in June! Dunno want to go anot...
Cheerios!
Depending on the brands of the products, the pictures can be found within the websites of Clarins, Laneige and The Face Shop.

MC on Thursday
Came down with fever on wednesday night, fever down, went to work on thursday, fever got worse in the morning, went to see company's doctor, took the rest of the day off as MC.
My fever was 38 degrees, which wasn't bad. But I was unable to keep my head straight already for all the calculations I have to do. Not to mention the write up I need to do too.
And I totally lost my voice on thursday. Turned into a sexy kitten that day again.
I was the 19th person out of the 30 odd people in my dept to fall ill. Office virus is really not a joke.
Already, this week my dept is operating with half the people on MC.
And with the swine flu going ard, I think on Mon I can expect the same situation...
And for people who are concerned about me, I am fine now =) Doctor said it is a throat infection (she pressed her hands at the bottom left side of my face and it hurts. And she said that is because my throat glands there are infected, red and swollen.) Fever is down for good (it hasn't been up since friday morning), but I am still shaky and tired. And my hands are trembling as I am typing... probably due to the strong fever medication.
Have to cancel all the meetups I have for this week =(
Not to mention, probably pushing my Revolutionary Road and Wolverine movie. I hope it is not going off screen soon...
I think I am signing off now, so that I can do whatever thing I want before my drowsiness kicked in.
Cheerios.
