Evgeni Plushenko
Evgeni Plushenko performing to Oops I did it again and Sex Bomb.
The video must be a few years back, but it is still so fun to watch.
I know that there are a few controversy to Men's figure skating these days, particularly with Plushenko losing to Lysacek for Gold and Johnny Weir deserving better than sixth place. People have been saying about Plushenko being a bad sport and a sore loser, but my stand is this. Haven't people noticed that most websites/ new stations/ webcasters are american based? Who will you side if you are American-based? A Russian's skater (Plushenko), who is just really upset that he lost and felt that he deserved so much better, or an American skater (Lysacek), who did put on a good show, but knows that the results could be otherwise?
No prize in guessing the above.
Maybe I am a little biased, but I do like Lysacek. If Plushenko did not come out of retirement, I am fully behind Lysacek. He is a good skater. But Plushenko caught my breath first, and for me, it is first come first serve. In Lysacek's defense, he handled the whole situation very well. I just think that the press and America could have blow the things out of proportion.
Plushenko is upset that he lost, and who won't speak out? And frankly speaking, I think the whole situation is out of his favour. Look at how the American figure skating judge Joe Inman said about his skating before the whole Olympics. Somehow, I feel that the olympics judges could have been harsher on Plushenko to prove Inman's wrong.
Sigh. The only good thing about this whole thing is that, Plushenko is thinking about competing in Sochi's Winter Olympics as his last games. Before this whole thing, I am convinced that Vancouver is his last games. Now maybe not. The question is, who will be willing to travel to Sochi with me to watch him? It's kinda an ulu pandan place!
Btw, Sochi is in Russia.
And btw, his official name is spelt as Evgeni Plushenko. There are many variations to the english spelling of his name, but he said before that his preferred spelling is Evgeni Plushenko. I don't know wha tis wrong with IOC or the tv network that spelt his name as Yevgeny Plushenko....
Anyway, the other thing is about Jojnny Weir. He is so fun to watch, but not necessary the best skater in the world. But then again, he is someone who couldn't care less with what the media has out of him, and I like him for that.
Anyway, just one last thing. If you guys have the time, go find some of the men's figure skating pictures. They can be quite good looking! Look out for Stephane Lambiel, Brian Joubert, Daisuke Takahashi. Hell, Lysacek looks good too.
Haha, sad to say Plushenko is the worse of the lot. I have a problem with his hairstyle. Maybe I will post all their pictures when I got the time.
Cheerios! Back to ice dancing and ladies' skating!
