I am back

Yup, I am back from Indonesia, and I am tired! I don't know why I am so beat actually... rarely have such tiredness in me whenever I came back from Indonesia.

In short my mum and I bought a lot of stuff. We came home with 5 bags! Ok, they are small bags and 2 of them are our clothes, and the rest are stuff that we bought =) Plus, with the exchange rate so favourable to us (currently Rp8000 = SGD$1 as opposed to usually about Rp5000 = SGD$1), a lot of stuff becomes cheaper!

Did not have a good trip on the ferry there, because my mum and I chionged the HK drama Moonlight Resonance till 5am the day (awesome show! Love it! Should catch it if u guys can!)before so we were lacking of sleep. Plus, the sea was choppy so the ride wasn't soon. I actually vomited on the ferry, which hasn't happened in 10 odd over years. My head was throbby so badly when I reached the terminal. It was a waste actually because I actually forgot to bring my camera out when my uncle brought us out to eat and bought a whole table of my favourite food! Satay mee, satays, chengdos, bla bla bla.... I know Singapore has these stuff, but they are exceptionally delicious back there. It's just something that they added I think... The place to eat wasn't great (there are stray cats and dogs everywhere and everyone knows I AM SCARED of cats and dogs...) but the food makes is worthwhile to be there.

Then went to watch some performance, similar to our hungry ghost festivals stage performance. This is the time I really totally regreted not bringing my camera because the "special act" is a guy dressed up as a girl singing hokkien songs! LOL.... He was wearing VERY REVEALING CLOTHES with fake bras fake hair and all and called himself "小蜜蜂" somemore... lol...
Anyway the rest of the days were spent visiting some relatives, playing with my younger cousins and buying more stuff. Went to their morning market to buy all the food stuff my mum wanted (pepper and onions and stuff) and we bought 50 otahs! But dunno why the otahs are smaller this time... but still! It's all fishy taste and it's awesome!

Bought some of my fave dry foods (dried guavas and dried ang moh liu lian) and lots of koropok! But these koropok are like divided into many different types. Some are made of beans (tasted a little bitter and it's for eating with beer), prawn types (these prawn types are really different. U can really taste the prawns one...), some spicy bitter type that I dunno made of what and others. LOL... That is why we ended up with 3 more extra bags. And my auntie always cooked fishes and prawns for us that are a lot bigger than those in SG and they tasted awesome! I guess it's because they are caught in the sea (as opposed to SG's stocks whereby they were breeded) and are still alive when bought... their fleshes are always firmer and chewier =) Very good seafood indeed.

And my mum bought a lot of shirts for my dad which are of good quality and cost $10 over dollars and also I saw a lot of clothes that looks like I saw Irene wearing them before. I even saw the top with the 2 roses at the collar that I am pretty sure Irene has the exact same top (only of different colour) for a little over $10 bucks and a dress which she has for about the same price too. I only bought 2 tops there, because it is simply too hot there and I dun even feel like trying them on. Plus, some tops there looks really lian... =(

Ok pictures time. I did not take a lot of pictures there because

1. it's dangerous to bring out any valuables there so literally I can't bring the camera out anytime whenever I want to take a picture.

2. You cannot blatantly let anyone know u are a foreigner. So bringing out a camera is a tell-tale sign that I AM a foreigner.

3. The grounds and streets there are not smooth. I always have to look at the floor everytime I walked the streets there, even though I have been there a lot of times. So I can't take a picture anywhere without thinking whether I will fall into the drains there.

4. It's just too hot!

5. Because I looked horrible most of the time due to the hotness, I did not take a lot of pictures of myself there =(

Ikan Bilis... all different types. There are salty ones, without bones, small, big.... etc

The dried tibits I was talking about. Many different types of fruits that I dun even know their names...

All these are koropoks unfried... u need to fry them to eat them. But look at the types!

Dried cuttlefish of different types.... jul's heaven

Other dried foodstocks... many different varieties

One of the streets.... I bought some stuff here =)

Some of the different food they eat as snacks.... the one above cost Rp1000 per piece I think...

This white thing is fermented cake... I also dunno made of what...

The streets at about 8+pm (about 9pm in sg) ... absolutely no one around.

Some of my cousins...

Leaving Indonesia...

Look at the sea in Indonesia... damn calm looking.

The ferry I was in...

The side of the ferry when it was moving very quickly...

I saw this scene whereby the setting sun cast a glow on the sea surface which was beautiful and I was trying to capture that on picture... =) Look how beautiful it is...

And I saw this huge cargo ship when we were about to reach Sg...

And my proudest purchases....

4 shades and a cap! Hahaha... of course the cap is a fake lah but who cares! It looks exactly like real one! Plus, the cap cost less than 5 bucks! Haha! And the shades are in red, brown, black and white! Haha! I shall allow myself to buy 1 more shade in Sg and that's it! I am set!

And this is my fave pair of the 4... the black one =)

The trip there always makes me cherish what I have here in SG. During my stay, there were 2 power stopages and only 2 times whereby there is water. I learnt about water saving all over again, using the most traditional ways to brush teeth and bathe (with the scoop to scoop water from tanks and not from the tap), having to boil water to bathe in slightly warm water (or else it's too cold) and also security all over again. I was bitten by mosquitoes left right and centre (all the bites are on my legs lah... dunno why) I see people without legs begging for money and using their hands as their crutches to move themselves and also see people who has more manners than Singaporeans (they hold their cig butts high in the air when walking in crowded places so that the butts won't burn anyone). It is such trips that makes people humble I think and makes me feel that I am too much of a princess when I am here in SG.

Some other pictures that I found on the web...
One of the common sights... link

The ferry terminal... it's an extremely long walk because they have to extend out to the deeper waters for the ferries...link

The first sight of the place u will see when u reach the ferry terminal...link

I was very happy to find this picture because this place is just outside my uncle's place! link

This is one of the common rides there... used to be Rp1500 per person for the ride but I think it's now Rp2000 per person because Rp500 is no longer in circulation I think... it's a cross between buses and taxis here. You tell the driver where to go and he will take u. If there is available seats on this vehicle, the driver can pick up other passengers along the way if the passengers destination is on the way as well...link

Just a note to my Da jie, when u are back in Sg, tell me ok?

Anyway, I should be going back there in a month's time. My aunt is coming back from China bringing Lucas with her just before CNY and if I haven't found a job then I will be going back with her to help her with her items and Lucas. I can't wait to see Lucas again! He can walk now and so my aunt said that he is a handful right now! Btw, I think I saw my uncle's name in my retail case the other day. But I am not sure whether it is the same person... haha

Alright, shall need to take a well needed break now after uploading so many pictures!

Cheerios!
