Ok, just want to share this one of my fave foods/ snacks that you can't get in Singapore.
My relatives in Indonesia called them agar-agar, which they said is the same thing that we have in Singapore. But apparently this is made from some kind of plant, in which they cooked it and dried it naturally. It is really HARD to buy because they required a weather that is consistent dry enough (eg no rain for many days) plus they only made it at the end of the year whereby most people have more extra cash to buy. It is not cheap too. One will cost $5, which is not that expensive if you think of the absolute number but for agar agar, $5 is really expensive. The values goes into the rarity in buying it and the work to process it.
But it is really my fave snack! It is naturally sweet, chewy and sticky but at the right level. We cut them into strips and normally it takes only a few days to polish it off. But I think the others normally put them into some soupy desserts like those sago. I ALWAYS ask my relatives who are coming to Singapore to keep a lookout for me so that they can buy it for me. And they said I really know how to choose because I get them to buy a very expensive stuff =) And they always buy at least 3 of them for me =)
Here are the pictures. The colour of it is so beautiful too =)
Before it gets cut into strips....
Anyway, talking about meeting friends to catch up. It has been really nice, and I started to realise that times like this is really hard to get... Esp on ocassions like meeting up with my da jie... Listening to friends telling me about how they are addicted to delusional (is that how you spell that?) blogs, which now they got me addicted, interesting rebukal (is that how you spell them too? My eng is turning worse and worse with my work), and funny situations. And Jul with her "Matt" face from Idol... It's been fun =)
And Revolutionary Road, according to Jul, is showing on 16 Apr! FINALLY! I have been waiting for this movie for a llllloooonnnngggg time! I even emailed to GV to ask them when are they going to show it (and they have not reply). Haha, looking forward to see it.
Btw, I saw this Studio Wu email that I got that there is a trial class by Bryan called Wraacking. That cracks me up because what the hell is wraacking?!! Sounds like trying to hit each other rather than a dance loh!
Sigh, I really remember I got a lot of things to blog about but now my brain is like drawing a blank. Am I getting old already? What the hell is wrong with me??!!
I shall really blog later when I get the chance to remember stuff. And I will write them down this time =)
Cheerios.
