Here's to a new 2009~!

My aunt has just confirmed with me that the name that appeared in one of my retail case is really my uncle... this is like so cool lah, I can actually study about him in school! My aunt said my uncle is very happy about it and it's no brainer. Anyone will be happy about it.

Well, today's the last day of 2008, and so my mum and I cleared most part of my room. And now I can hear my voice echoing when talking in my room! Cool, at least now I don't have to worry that Lucas will start pulling my drawers and take my stuff!

In any sense, I set a few resolutions (this time more vague due to the me being uncertain about my future now) now and I hope I can keep them... I hope this coming new year will bring nothing but good into my life... and maybe bring some certainty in my life... =D

Here's to a new good 2009 to everyone!

Cheerios!

A New Me

I am so tired these days to blog that I have a lot of backdated photos! Sighz...

Oh well, I am just going to cut short now. Haha.

Zoe and I went to the Isetan private sale on friday. Frankly speaking, even though I am a Isetan cardmember for 1 year plus, I have never been to their private sale because the timings could never fit my schedule. So this year, I thought I shall just drop by and see whether I can get anything I want on sale... But the sale was crazy! There was crowd control, and the queue is so long that Zoe and I could not see the end of the queue after walking for a long time. We ended giving up, because we figured that it's going to take us 3 hrs of waiting AT LEAST to get into the store and ended up going to Mos for a little chat.

And she gave me a gel eyeliner as a christmas gift! She knows that I am searching for eyeliners that doesn't smudge and so she bought for me! Thanks girl!

And yesterday was spent at darling Huiteng's house for belated christmas exchange with IE buddies. Your house is so much fun dear! Got Wii (which I only marginally good at the drums and bad at everything else. But Cheyenne is the '神' in Wii...), mahjong, poker... it's like an arcade mixed with gambling den. And got so much food! It's so much fun... too bad we went there a little too late. Next time shall be there early so that we can play the whole day! =)

And I played mahjong the second time in my life! But now I really sucked.... I lost a lot. Luckily never play with money =) I want to play again! Somebody willing to teach me and willing to see a slow player please tell me!

Busy opening presents...

With Huiteng

With Vian.... I don't know why, but she looks like she's damn scared... haha...

With Ying Ying... who I haven't seen for a long time cos she's always mia-ing!

And I got the most practical gift of all during the gift exchange! A thumbdrive! Haha.... and I realised that most people thought of doorstoppers as the most unisex gift in the world because there were so many door stoppers gifts this time!

All of us with our gifts...

And with just one wink, we had left IE for close to 1.5 years le. Who would have known that 1.5 years ago, when we stepped into IE for our internships/ temp jobs, we would have meet one another and make such close friends? I am grateful that I met everyone, esp Huiteng who is like a godsend gift to me. And of course, the empty director's room that allowed the both of us to have the space to foster our friendship =) And I hope the friendships with one another will continue! And we must make it a pact to stop MIA-ing whenever we can!

It's so much fun guys! Next time we shall do it again~! CNY maybe?

While we were talking on christmas, I have a soft spot for christmas movies. I admit, some christmas movies sucks big time, but there are a few that make u feel warm and fuzzy, and others that makes u feel warm and empty at the same time if the ending of the movie is a little more depressing. The past few days I was hooked onto Hallmark Channel on cable, because the channel has a tendency to show very fuzzy movies which is like the perfect theme for Christmas. And there are so many good christmas movies that are not shown in the cinemas.... Here are my top 4.

1. Love Actually (really fuzzy feeling...)
2. The Holiday (warm fuzzy too...)
3. The Family Stone
4. The Christmas Shoes

Hmm, I know a few people don't really like christmas movies but these are the movies that you can try... =)

And lastly, by popular demand from my friends.... my new hairstyle!

Finally got my guts to do my first ever perm. I could have perm a lot higher up but since this is digital perm, the guy cannot roll the curler too high or else the thing would have burned my hair scalp. My hair now is a little short now, but after a couple of months of growth it should be fine =)

So, bye bye straight hair...

And now I am loving the smell of my hair due to all the hair products put on me by the salon... and I am looking forward to the reactions of some of my other friends who NEVER reads my blog to see the real me if I ever meet them =)

Cheerios! Going to watch Australia tml!

**Btw, I saw Jason Mraz's tour date and he's coming to 5 March! But I don't know whether I got the money to go to the concert... and Grasshopper is coming again in May (according to jul) for a concert! Wah! Another concert year! Broke le!

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

I am still watching Friends on Starworld! And now it's on season 8!

Anyway, I am posting Friends season 10 bloopers for jul's benefit. It's super hilarious! Esp the first video during 3.10 and turn up your speakers at 3.33 onwards. Love it!

And I found the episode with Brad Pitt on it (which I just watched a couple of days ago...). Hilarious!

It's so nice to know that the 6 main stars made an effort to keep the show together by insisting that all of them are nominated for the same category (eg either all for supporting or lead actors and actresses) and all taking the same amount of salary. It's so rare to see this kind of thing in real working world (I guess) and also rare to see it between friends... I believe in compromise and giving and taking between friends, and not about one person taking control all the time... I guess with these 6 stars, some actions such as all taking the same amount of salary requires some more famous stars to take lesser money that what they can take (giving) and less famous stars taking more money that they can (taking)... I think this is the best thing Friends has taught me =)

Anyway, I watched Twilight with Adeline today. Robert Pattinson is so awkwardly cute! Haha! He's even more awkward (and in my opinion, more cute) on the Ellen show! Haha!

And I saw this top from Series today at citylink but I never got the chance to go into the store to take a closer look... sighz. It looks like the top that I brought Da Jie to see at TM the other day, but without ribbon. Hopefullly I will get it soon =)

Cheerios.

**I need to learn to let go...

Sephora

I was so in luck this thurs.

I happened to be in Ngee Ann City on thurs, and I happened to walk past Sephora that day. It was opened for a private event, and the opening was yesterday at 4pm. I was asking a man who was guarding the entrance what brands are available, and he let me in to have a look! He said that it's okay, and that since there is not many people ard, he let me in to have a look. And the funniest thing was, he said "Take your time mdm!" I was so shocked and happy that I called Zoe! Haha... and Zoe tried the same thing too, but it didn't work for her! Haha! I really feel that I was so happy!

It was really good to be in Sephora before the opening, because after the opening it was simply full with people. And what's better, I got a personal beauty adviser! She told me which products are good, which are suitable for me and others. If I wasn't on a budget, I would surely swipe the whole store of products away... However, I admit that I was a little disappointed. They brought in a lot of counter brands like Benefit, Estee, Dior, Clarins, Lancome... which is like easily available to consumers in normal departmental stores. What I was really looking forward was Urban Decay (I heard their eye shadow is really good), derma, smashbox (looks good but I wasn't sure...) The only good thing was that you can try those counter makeup without worrying someone is in front of you breathing down your neck to buy their items =) And since I was inside before most people, I get to try most sample first, which is nice. Most of the makeup items are not even opened lah! But the most attractive item is surprisingly for me, the Sephora own brand. It looks more interesting than the normal Dior or Estee makeup because there is nothing special in those brands being in Sephora outlet.

And so, I bought a body lotion and a lip balm! The body lotion (with grapefruit smell which is so good and which Zoe can tell straight away the moment she opened it...) can be used as a heel cream if I want (my cracked heel is a lil better now) And the person threw in a message oil sample for good measure... (anyway, the body lotion got lots of different smell. got chocolate too! makes u want to eat it!)

I am a happy girl.

Hmm, something a little random here. I realised that I haven't posted the picture I took with Linda when I went out lunch with her, and she's waiting for me to send her the picture! Yikes! Here you go Linda Darling!

Anyway, this week has been busy busy for me. Been out with mum on wed, and she bought a lot of stuff for me again =) I am very blessed that I have parents who love me so much. My mum was darned worried when I was having chills and fever during my tooth extraction... Yes, it can be due to me being the only child again, but I think it's natural for parents to love their children =) And I love them as much as they love me, which makes us a loving family!

Next wk, meeting with Adeline, Zoe, out with mum, xmas in huiteng's house and my mum and I are starting a new HK drama series again! And 1 more month till I see Lucas again! I can't wait!

Something got into me

I suddenly have tons of stuff to blog about but I have no time.

Anyway, Raymond Lam won the Best Actor in Asian Television Awards 2008 for The Master of Taichi! Admittedly, I never finished the show (Myolie Wu got irritating halfway through the show, but I will try to finish it sometime soon) but I am happy that he won!! Yeah!!

And here's another video of him playing with a baby. The baby is so darn cute, and Raymond is like a big baby beside him! And in Raymond's words, the BB "好得意"... I love the baby! And I love Raymond more!

Somehow I feel that jul will love this vid... and I don't know why=) Can really tell he likes kids... because he was so patiently and likes to play with him. Makes me wonder if he ever sees my cousin Lucas what will happen... haha...

And strangely enough, my half-bucket water cantonese allows me to understand almost fully what they were talking about! Haha! If need translation for this video I can do it! =D

Cheerios! Will blog soon about all the other stuff I want to talk about =)

Harry Potter and the Half Blooded Prince Movie Trailer

This just in!

The new Harry Potter and the Half Blooded Prince Movie Trailer is here!

I am so excited! I am a big big big big big big big big big big big big big big big big Harry Potter fan and I can't wait!

And did you guys know that the last Book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows are most likely to be in 2 part movie?

Yeah! No more cut-short-till-the-plot-is-not-the-same-as-the-book and too-short-a-movie-to-be-a-great-movie and movie-with-plot-that-fills-me-empty movie!!

I am a happy girl.

I think the joy in me can be only understood by people who read those books and are a fan of it.

I collected all 7 books, now thinking whether should I collect all the movies! And I still have lord of the rings set to buy.... =( LOL, Harry Potter makes my mum wonder why am I keeping children books at this age but she knows enough to not touch them because I told her the whole set cost me hundreds of dollars (although 3 of those books are given by my friends...) Haha...

Enjoy! I am sure many of you guys will want to watch this movie =)

Gossip Girl fashion

I love Blair Waldorf and her fashion style! She makes hairbands so cute and lovely, and I always love girls with brown hair.

I used to like Blake Lively and Serena van der Woodsen, but now I am switched to Blair.

Ok, slightly leaning towards Blair, because Blair won with her fashion sense.

But Serena has good fashion sense too. Really love the second outfit here (chic, casual, comfortable). In honest opinion, I think Serena's clothes are more wearable for Singapore. But still! Blair's fashion is damn cool.

All these pictures, in my opinion, puts us those Singaporeans who thinks that they got loads of style and fashion sense to shame...

Haha, maybe these people haven't seen GG.

Enjoy these pictures and vids! Cheerios!

**Actually, looking closely now, I like Serena's fashion too. Aiyo, I can't choose lah! But it's awesome fashion =)

Bobbi Brown and 女人我最大 and inexpensive makeup

女人我最大 is quite addictive. Though I missed it a lot of times, I now try to make it an effort to watch it as much as I can because I think some of their fashion tips and make up items are really nice =)

Anyway, I was watching a couple of weeks back whereby Kevin (from the show) was introducing this palette which was very interesting. He didn't exactly say out the brand (as usual), but I saw the brand on the lid which makes me VERY CURIOUS.....

It's

BOBBI BROWN!

I am not sure whether a lot of people knows about this item already (in other words, am I very sua ku...) but I feel that the palette is damn good loh. Allows you to choose the different eyeshadow and lip glosses instead of the usual "fixed items fixed colours" palette that you see in the market these days. And the other day when I was at Orchard, I saw these palettes and from far, it looks interesting lah. I did not have time to go up close to have a look, and now I am regreting it...

The video that shows the palette...

Don't know how much it is, but it's definitely worth it. Other that the fact that you can choose your own colours, imagine you are going overseas. Just choose the colours you want to match up and then one palette is all you need! How convenient! (unless you are those who wants to lug many different colours out overseas then I got nothing to say...) Maybe next time there will be individual blushers too... =)

On other notes, I found this 女人我最大 video online that is interesting. I was kena said by many people that I am very fair (huiteng and da jie are the first 2 that comes to my head), and so now from the video I now know that I need to be very careful to select my foundation (to look dewy to prevent myself from looking like a ghost). Kevin is teaching how to do nice OL make up with inexpensive makeup items and he was using maybelline (even he did not say the brand, the packaging is kinda obvious). It goes to show that sometimes inexpensive makeup will do the same job as expensive makeup and there is no need to use expensive makeup at all... but then again, girls will always be girls. Buying expensive items will satisfy an inate sense of insecurities of all women. It's just a matter of how much insecure (and how rich) the girl is =)

And sadly, I sometimes fall prey to it. But luckily not all the time =) And here's the video...

Part 1

Part 5

I don't want to put all the videos up here, but you guys can find it from youtube, so yeah.
Alright, cheerios.

Lazy

I am just simply lazy to update my blog these days... have been watching gossip girls online and have not stopped since. Now on ep15... Will move on to finish 90210 after GG. (90210 is not too bad! Actually quite intriguing...)

Teen dramas can be so addictive =)

Anyway, got my second wisdom tooth extracted today. Went to the dentist on wed and she said that my wisdoom tooth has to be extracted asap or else it will cause my last tooth to decay. So extracted it today... damn painful lah. It's more embedded and deeper at a more acute angle (with a bigger tooth and bigger roots), so the surgery took longer. Will take a picture of the tooth when I am up to it... Sigh... the pain this time is kinda extended to my left ear area and my left side of the face is totally in pain. But surprisingly, my face is not very swollen YET. I hoped I don't look like a pig head tml...

Anyway, thanks to my friends who asked me how I was! Da jie and Zoe was telling me how brave I was =) Oh well, it's not a matter of bravery. It's more of "I know I have to get this done and let's get it done and over with" thing. Plus, doing it for the second time, with my mum next to me, helps a lot too =)

Ok, I am getting back to gossip girls and survivor. I hope Sugar or Matty wins survivor! I was so glad that Corinne is voted out because she is such a total bitch! It's a little mirror image of reality at times! =)

Cheerios! I will meet up with whoever I owe meetings to at the later end of the week =)

I am back

Yup, I am back from Indonesia, and I am tired! I don't know why I am so beat actually... rarely have such tiredness in me whenever I came back from Indonesia.

In short my mum and I bought a lot of stuff. We came home with 5 bags! Ok, they are small bags and 2 of them are our clothes, and the rest are stuff that we bought =) Plus, with the exchange rate so favourable to us (currently Rp8000 = SGD$1 as opposed to usually about Rp5000 = SGD$1), a lot of stuff becomes cheaper!

Did not have a good trip on the ferry there, because my mum and I chionged the HK drama Moonlight Resonance till 5am the day (awesome show! Love it! Should catch it if u guys can!)before so we were lacking of sleep. Plus, the sea was choppy so the ride wasn't soon. I actually vomited on the ferry, which hasn't happened in 10 odd over years. My head was throbby so badly when I reached the terminal. It was a waste actually because I actually forgot to bring my camera out when my uncle brought us out to eat and bought a whole table of my favourite food! Satay mee, satays, chengdos, bla bla bla.... I know Singapore has these stuff, but they are exceptionally delicious back there. It's just something that they added I think... The place to eat wasn't great (there are stray cats and dogs everywhere and everyone knows I AM SCARED of cats and dogs...) but the food makes is worthwhile to be there.

Then went to watch some performance, similar to our hungry ghost festivals stage performance. This is the time I really totally regreted not bringing my camera because the "special act" is a guy dressed up as a girl singing hokkien songs! LOL.... He was wearing VERY REVEALING CLOTHES with fake bras fake hair and all and called himself "小蜜蜂" somemore... lol...
Anyway the rest of the days were spent visiting some relatives, playing with my younger cousins and buying more stuff. Went to their morning market to buy all the food stuff my mum wanted (pepper and onions and stuff) and we bought 50 otahs! But dunno why the otahs are smaller this time... but still! It's all fishy taste and it's awesome!

Bought some of my fave dry foods (dried guavas and dried ang moh liu lian) and lots of koropok! But these koropok are like divided into many different types. Some are made of beans (tasted a little bitter and it's for eating with beer), prawn types (these prawn types are really different. U can really taste the prawns one...), some spicy bitter type that I dunno made of what and others. LOL... That is why we ended up with 3 more extra bags. And my auntie always cooked fishes and prawns for us that are a lot bigger than those in SG and they tasted awesome! I guess it's because they are caught in the sea (as opposed to SG's stocks whereby they were breeded) and are still alive when bought... their fleshes are always firmer and chewier =) Very good seafood indeed.

And my mum bought a lot of shirts for my dad which are of good quality and cost $10 over dollars and also I saw a lot of clothes that looks like I saw Irene wearing them before. I even saw the top with the 2 roses at the collar that I am pretty sure Irene has the exact same top (only of different colour) for a little over $10 bucks and a dress which she has for about the same price too. I only bought 2 tops there, because it is simply too hot there and I dun even feel like trying them on. Plus, some tops there looks really lian... =(

Ok pictures time. I did not take a lot of pictures there because

1. it's dangerous to bring out any valuables there so literally I can't bring the camera out anytime whenever I want to take a picture.

2. You cannot blatantly let anyone know u are a foreigner. So bringing out a camera is a tell-tale sign that I AM a foreigner.

3. The grounds and streets there are not smooth. I always have to look at the floor everytime I walked the streets there, even though I have been there a lot of times. So I can't take a picture anywhere without thinking whether I will fall into the drains there.

4. It's just too hot!

5. Because I looked horrible most of the time due to the hotness, I did not take a lot of pictures of myself there =(

Ikan Bilis... all different types. There are salty ones, without bones, small, big.... etc

The dried tibits I was talking about. Many different types of fruits that I dun even know their names...

All these are koropoks unfried... u need to fry them to eat them. But look at the types!

Dried cuttlefish of different types.... jul's heaven

Other dried foodstocks... many different varieties

One of the streets.... I bought some stuff here =)

Some of the different food they eat as snacks.... the one above cost Rp1000 per piece I think...

This white thing is fermented cake... I also dunno made of what...

The streets at about 8+pm (about 9pm in sg) ... absolutely no one around.

Some of my cousins...

Leaving Indonesia...

Look at the sea in Indonesia... damn calm looking.

The ferry I was in...

The side of the ferry when it was moving very quickly...

I saw this scene whereby the setting sun cast a glow on the sea surface which was beautiful and I was trying to capture that on picture... =) Look how beautiful it is...

And I saw this huge cargo ship when we were about to reach Sg...

And my proudest purchases....

4 shades and a cap! Hahaha... of course the cap is a fake lah but who cares! It looks exactly like real one! Plus, the cap cost less than 5 bucks! Haha! And the shades are in red, brown, black and white! Haha! I shall allow myself to buy 1 more shade in Sg and that's it! I am set!

And this is my fave pair of the 4... the black one =)

The trip there always makes me cherish what I have here in SG. During my stay, there were 2 power stopages and only 2 times whereby there is water. I learnt about water saving all over again, using the most traditional ways to brush teeth and bathe (with the scoop to scoop water from tanks and not from the tap), having to boil water to bathe in slightly warm water (or else it's too cold) and also security all over again. I was bitten by mosquitoes left right and centre (all the bites are on my legs lah... dunno why) I see people without legs begging for money and using their hands as their crutches to move themselves and also see people who has more manners than Singaporeans (they hold their cig butts high in the air when walking in crowded places so that the butts won't burn anyone). It is such trips that makes people humble I think and makes me feel that I am too much of a princess when I am here in SG.

Some other pictures that I found on the web...
One of the common sights... link

The ferry terminal... it's an extremely long walk because they have to extend out to the deeper waters for the ferries...link

The first sight of the place u will see when u reach the ferry terminal...link

I was very happy to find this picture because this place is just outside my uncle's place! link

This is one of the common rides there... used to be Rp1500 per person for the ride but I think it's now Rp2000 per person because Rp500 is no longer in circulation I think... it's a cross between buses and taxis here. You tell the driver where to go and he will take u. If there is available seats on this vehicle, the driver can pick up other passengers along the way if the passengers destination is on the way as well...link

Just a note to my Da jie, when u are back in Sg, tell me ok?

Anyway, I should be going back there in a month's time. My aunt is coming back from China bringing Lucas with her just before CNY and if I haven't found a job then I will be going back with her to help her with her items and Lucas. I can't wait to see Lucas again! He can walk now and so my aunt said that he is a handful right now! Btw, I think I saw my uncle's name in my retail case the other day. But I am not sure whether it is the same person... haha

Alright, shall need to take a well needed break now after uploading so many pictures!

Cheerios!

My Wishlist and I am leaving tomorrow

There are a couple of things I want to buy since dunno how long ago...

1. Makeup brushes (I only have one!)

2. BB cream (see 女人我最大 and they always say BB cream very good... good hydation properties plus with healing properties plus huiteng and zoe are using them with excellent results... I am itching! Zoe recommended me one brand which I cannot remember... will have to ask Zoe soon.)

3. Gel eyeliner (Jul can't get it for us when she went for the invitation only Bobbi Brown sale... I need to get a good eyeliner that looks natural and doesn't smudge on my oily eyelids)

4. Night Cream (Can wait for a while...)

5. Eye Mask (Can wait for a while...)

6. Some new eyeshadows (can wait too...)

7. Foot cream (this one really cannot wait... have to get some good one...)

8. Sunglasses (I don't have a pair! So want to get one... maybe I can wait until Da Jie go to US again, cos I heard Zoe said that F21 glasses in US damn cheap..)

9. Whitening scrub from Clarins (I want a little whitening skincare in my regime and that scrub sounds good!)

One thing I don't need is blushers! With Benetint and other blushers I have, I think I can use for a long time!

Anyway, I have been watching Moonlight Resonance 溏心風暴之家好月圓 these days. Been renting dvds from the day I finished my paper on mon and now we are at 35 episode! Almakz, cannot finish before my mum and I leave for Indonesia. Sigh... it's such a great show! My mum and I are TOTALLY hooked on it. That show made us laugh, made us tear and made us cry. Love it! AND I LOVE LAM FUNG IN THAT SHOW~!!!! Hahahaha...

And watching that show made me missed stuff that Zoe could have gotten for me at the Benefit sale... haha she called me but I was sleeping like a log... Good to have such a friend who will think of me whenever there are things that she thinks I will be interested in!

From that meeting with Zoe last wed, we helped each other, we consoled each other, we gave advice to each other. It's good to exchange views and opinions and have a friend who accept your opinions no matter what and gave you her true opinions no matter what without hurting you. I talked until I lost my voice! Too bad jul wasn't there. She is the ultimate listener and so I think she will give us seriously unbiased views. But she too caught up with her work =( I am glad she said that I matured and learnt to let go of certain issues. I guess I too took a long way round to learn how to cherish friendships and keep them =) I learnt a lot from her and that talk that day =D Well girl, we are friends forever ok? No need to worry if jace is not around cause I will help you too! =)

And she gave me beauty advice! Her glitter makeup is very good! Doesn't make her look like she got puffy eyes! Must teach me again ok girl!

Anyway, I am leaving tml for Indonesia to see my relatives and also help my mum to replenish her stocks (I know she wants to buy ikan bilis and pepper and coconut sugar...). LOL.. So will not be blogging for a while.

Cheerios!

P.S. If anyone of you want to try some samples but do not dare to ask from the beauty advisors, click on the icon below or at the sidebar. You can get the samples from that website! All you need to just to pay for the postage fee and give comments on the products on the website to get more samples! The only bad thing is, the products are not those very expensive (think clarins, estee, chanel) but more drugstore products but it's always good to try them before buying the full size product! Thanks to Zoe again for the recommendations!
